I can only race for 3 seconds at a time

It seems to be keyboard inputs that trigger this, but after loading the track and going to race I can only do so for a few seconds before I get taken back to the menu screen with the rotating car for absolutely no reason.

The installation is clean and I've put this in compat mode for XP, and am running as an admin. So a great degree of the usual stuff is taken care of.

However, all my crashes seem to be on cue with a keystroke. I haven't tested this properly but the instant i hit a button I can get taken back or I barely make it out of the pits, try to turn and get taken back.

I've left it to its own devices for a while and although 20 seconds is not a great indicator of anything, the game didn't cause me to tear my hear out... till I tried to accelerate.


I'm running

Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
Ati Radeon HD5870
AMD PhenomII x6
with about 4gb of ram.

Fairly decent system, mostly used for 3d's max work.

any help?
 
Sounds like you got a button assigned to exit the game lol. check your button assignments and also check button assignments outside of rfactor (keyboard etc)
I had it once with an fps game where i forgot a button on my mouse was used for end-application and i used that button in-game for zoom or something, every time i zoomed the game would exit. and of course beeing me, it took a me a while to realise this :p

that didn't help. The game does it regardless of whether i touch anything or not. its totally random as it turns out from a little more playing around.
