Career and selling cars Question

Really enjoying the game.
May have made a mistake. I drove the H6 Hammer and disliked its ponderous handling so much that I sold it for a pittance.
I have no cars in my garage for the SR race series.
It shows I need 4916 exp points to buy Howston.
I am racing a Kodo Razor in the Lienz speed festival and earning credits. (as well as OWC)
Question is: Will I be able to earn experience points and credits in Lienz/Kod Razor to by the Howston and so race in SR?

Thankyou I have read the manual. It does not appear to answer my question.
I have however concluded that you cannot "in-game" solve the problem as without a car in SR series you cannot earn credits.
On another forum a solution was provided (editing the credits value in CCH folder). I have gone this route.
