Ambient and Track Temperature question?

angelodeasa

Hi, just wanted to know what are the effects of this temperatures (Ambient and Track)? Do they mostly affect the tires or also some of the aerodynamic components?

Anyway, I tried testing the Ambient and Track Temperature through the following parameters in the .gdb file:

Weather
{
TestDay
{
Conditions = Best
TrackWetness = Dry
AmbientTemp = 10
TrackTemp = 10
}
Practice1
{
Conditions = Best
TrackWetness = Dry
AmbientTemp = 10
TrackTemp = 10
}
}

And basically it did not work. I changed those lines to my liking by increasing it to 100 C for both just for testing and it did not appear ingame. So I guess the weather is hard coded and I can't do much there...

Anyway, if anyone has any helpful info's on this, would really appreciate it...

Hi Angelo,

If I'm right you are trying to influence the weather conditions within a session to let's say set a maximum for ambient and track temp for this particular session !?!?

From what I know so far there is no way in rF1 to influence the weather conditions, either on temps nor on the dry/wet side. This all shall be customizable within rF2 ...

Cheers
Frank

PS: There is one switch in rF1 while setting up a local session (offline session) where one can determine whether it's sunny or cloudy, but this is it.

Thanks Frank... Thats my question and I appreciate your reply...

I guess its another one of the left overs by ISI in one of the .gdb files =)

Anyway, can't wait for rF2... I'm hoping it can be revolutionary as rF1...

Having run some tracks like LeMans through 24 hours things certainly appear to change. Not sure if they really do. As night falls, it feels like the tires lose grip. I don't recall if the tire temps drop; thats what happens in real life though.

Most of the time on a real track grip will drop just after sunset as the track cools but unless the temps drop a lot the grip tends to come back as more rubber is laid down. rFactor doesn't work that way.

Also as the air temps drop and the density increases, engines make more power, but that doesn't seem to affect rFactor either.

Not sure if those are among the features in rF2, but if they are, I hope they can add some tuning for fuel mixture. ;)

You have ambient/track temp drop in rF 1 but that's hardcoded. At midday you have 28/27*C and at midnight: 14/18*C. Of course the temp change is smooth through 24h. Engines of course cools down too but I don't know if ISI went that far with air density to simulate its influence on engine's work.
