Rfactor Config not working after Windows 10 upgrade

ayrtonkee

Hi all,

When I was using Rfactor on my old Windows 7 laptop (Graphics card: Intel GMA 4500m) it worked good enough to have a lot of fun. I installed a mod but it caused Rfactor to crash, so I installed Rfactor. A couple months ago I used the free Windows 10 upgrade, and when I installed Rfactor, the Rfactor Config Utility crashed right after the Rfactor splash screen. I tried downloading the demo's of Rfactor 1 & 2, but they both don't want to start. I think it has something to do with my graphics cars driver not having full Windows 10 compatibility. I know it's a very old and low-end graphics card.
Has somebody also been experiencing the same problem? And how did you fix it?

Thanks,
ayrtonkee

If you are not using the steam version, It might be worth requesting a steam key from ISI and see if you have the same issues.

rFactor for steam has been upgraded with some fixes and expanded features.

How come do you even dare to provide this advice?

Moving to steam has no rollback possible so it is not something you should advice as a wild guess as you just did.

It is highly unlikely that moving to steam will solve solve any issue. rF1/rF2 should work fine when he sorts out whatever problem he might have.

If you had problems running rF1. rF2 will definitely won't run good enough In your old laptop.

However rF1 is much less hardware demanding and should work fine in most systems.

I would try reinstalling all Microsoft visual c++ redistributables (vcredist). I had to do it after moving to W10.

If you also had problems in the past before moving to W10 as it seems, I would also make a new clean install (lite or full) in a separate folder. I would not use standard default paths. Try c:/rFactor.
