Strange multiplayer problem

karel.marciniszyn

Dear all,

I am desperately looking for a solution of my very specific problem with multiplayer. I can join a race but I cannot race there. This is how it looks:

As you can see I cannot see any on-track action. If there are any drivers on server I can see their list (without me, but I cannot see times).
the only way how to show on-track action is to click on driver in the list and try to "join" his car. Then I cann see action on track but it is not working as spectator, because he didnt get any message and if I maximize the window I get message "waiting for server"

Setup windows also look strange

I did intensive searching to find where the problem is (i work in IT for a long time, so I think I am able to do lot of testing systematicaly and check lot of possibilities). There are servers where it is not working no matter the mod. On the othee hand I have few occurances of working join. finally I reinstalled and it works one day that the problem arise again. From that point I was not able to join anywhere no mnatter if it is fresh install or not.
I tried to run as administator, turn off the antivirus, firewall etc. I also check windows event vier and there are no errors at all.

Please let me know if you ever faced similar problems and of course :) if you find any solution. Thank you all in advance!

Do you have spectator mode enabled? I've joined servers that are partially crashed before which will do strange stuff like this too.

Spectator is off. And this at the moment happens to all servers, even freshly estabilished...

I would agree with Noel, that really looks as if you join the server as spectator.

What Anti Virus are you using?

No way. I even check in the ini files and keep them opend during the whole process with notepad ++ to ensure there are no changes...
I also tried with antivir totaly off, same for firewall...

finaly, yesterday I contacted with a guy who described similar problem here on forum long time ago. He than answered me that the problem is caused by the killer network driver ( ai am using Gigabyte Sniper motherboard with this network driver...).
So, today evening I will try to solve it by updating or disabling this and we will see, but I geuss it will be the solution.

If it should be solved or even not (good luck that it will be solved), please post it here to let others participate.

Oh Poo!

I've just done an update on Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit, and mines now doing exactly the same as the OP.
The funny thing is, if copy the whole rFactor folder to the desktop. I can start rFactor from there, and it runs without a problem. Something in the Windows 8.1 Pro has changed

Just tested rFactor in Programs folder and Programs (x86) folder. rFactor doesn't work correctly exactly as the OP says. But rFactor does work properly when you copy the folder either to C: drive or on the desktop.
So it's something to do with Microsoft changing the security settings.

Did you try it with setting the Windows UAC to the lowest level (and run it "as administrator")?
