People only see rFactor server if they edit multiplayer.ini?

scwbrian

I have 3 servers up, here are the mods for each server :
DLM
DragFactor
and...
WCORR

The server names are :
DragFactor Street Outlaws
Fun Run
and...
SCW Fun Run

The issue is, people can only usually see the server if they edit their multiplayer.ini file
In the multiplayer.ini file they edit the concurrent server updates from 400 (usually the default) to 999
I don't want them to do that because I want them to see it right away with out having the hassle edit edit files and possibly screw something up...
Is there a easier way to make it come up for them?

Sometimes they just have to refresh the list 2-... times to show a server.

Alternatively you can send them the IP and Ports of the servers, so they can join using the blue "+" Button.
And when they joined the server, they can add it to their friendslist and use that.

Do you see my servers on the lists?
And like said I want my server to show up with the others automatically so I get a bunch of people in the server. If they don't update their multiplayer ini concurrent server to 999 they won't find it after 1,000 refreshes.

Brings back memories. Funny people insist that rF1 was so much easier. :)

I used to run Concurrent Server Updates="2000".

Another option is to create desktop shortcuts which use the +connect and +password options. Then people can just double click and go right into the server.

Ex: +connect <ip>:<port> +password "somepasswordhere"
Note: you need the double quotes around the password even if you don't have spaces in the password.

I don't understand

Noel, i think he is searching for a general solution for all people, not just for people he knows personally.

I normally use "Concurrent Server Updates="900", which is OK for me here.
And @ scwbrian: i think the most people that use rFactor1, will have changed that value anyway ;)

Better tell people to edit multiplayer file and set value to one or two thousand; as of today, I would expect everyone already have done this, it's the good old trick ;)
