Help! How do i make a Dedicated server?

So about 2 weeks ago i was introduced to this game and i was very amazed! So I got some of my friends to buy so we could race online. The problem is idk how make a server. I tried to open ports and stuff and it dont work. Please tell what else to do and what is missing.

you just need to forward 1 Port and this is 34297 in default.
You forwared it to 192.168.2.1, is that the ip from the machine running the dedicated server?

Go to the machine on which the server should run, press
windowskesy + r
type cmd enter
in the commandline box type
ipconfig
see what ip you have.
I think its something like 192.168.2.xxx but not 192.168.2.1 which is propably the ip of your router / gateway.
if you have the ip, forward 34297 TCP to this ip.

start the server, check the checkbox "matchmaker announce" if you want to make it visible in the lobby and in your client select "game refresh local" instead of "internet" and then refresh the lobby.

This is the rFactor2 Forum, you should rather place it to one of the rf1 or technical forums, cause rf2 server might be different.

I see nothing wrong with your firewall rules. That probably isn't the problem. FYI, that firewall test program is dead. The testing server is down and has been down for a long time. In fact, I have never seen it up. So don't let that firewall test throw you in a loop. My guess is you have a firewall (software) running on the server or client that is blocking traffic.

Is the client and the server on the same network? If so you have to set the refresh type to LAN. But from the screen shot above it looks like you already have it set to LAN. Also, I want to say that the server will not show up on the list if the server is running on the same machine as the client. Don't quote me on that though. If it is running on the same machine try connecting manually to 127.0.0.1 and see what happens.

BTW, you are correct.. rFactor is amazing.
