Could not connect to server. RF1 Just Bought Today

Just bought rfactor 1 today for the first time. bought and installed it off of there website. Also downloaded the update that is available off of there website under downloads. I purchased it as it says to do after you install it they sent me my key code. now when i put the key code in and the correst email it says could not connect to server. the demo works fine but cannot play full game please help if you can. running windows xp and have a good internet connection.
 
Hi Boone. Its either your firewall or DNS. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can temporarily change to an opendns like googles.

I turned off my windows firewall and i am not running any anti virus. when i change my dns to googles8.8.8.8 dns can i change it back to what my orginal dns was? make sense?
 
Yes Boone. Make a note of the existing one first and away you go.
